In order to successfully approach appropriate communities worldwide, the project foresees that software prototypes will be available through the web for public use. Relevant scientific, industrial and software development communities will be also contacted by the Dicode consortium. Members of these communities will be invited to participate into project meetings.
For example, as the Dicode project will incorporate existing open source components such as Hadoop, Mahout and UIMA (all of which are Apache projects), the Apache Software Foundation and its members involved in developing components being used in the Dicode project will be contacted early in the project and asked to take an active role in the development of the project and its components. Additionally, the Dicode platform, or parts of the platform using open source modules, can also be submitted to the Apache Foundation as an Incubator project. The advantage of doing so would be twofold. First, the open source community would be further involved in the project and secondly, if the Incubator project proposal is accepted, then additional companies and industry partners would become aware of the project due to reach and success of the Apache Foundation.
As the Dicode project is based on cloud computing infrastructure and corresponding interfaces, another possibility is to engage with various Standards Development Organizations which are currently involved in developing open cloud standards.
Finally, appropriate IT companies who are not members of the original project consortium will be contacted. Their involvement will be crucial in developing the rich ecosystem of development partners, which are needed for the sustainability of the Dicode project.
Important Dicode deliverables will be public. Deliverables concerning elaborated specifications and operational versions are going to be published on the web (the related intellectual and property rules have been set accordingly). The project’s partners will publish scientific results in conferences and journals dedicated to fields such as Computer-Supported Collaborative Work, Data Mining, Machine Learning and Knowledge Discovery, Decision Making and Decision Making Support Systems, Knowledge Management, and Future Generation Computing Systems, as well as to interdisciplinary and applied research related to both ICT and Social Sciences.
